Who we are
MobileDesk is a service of Mobilia Consulting LLC, based in Charleston, South Carolina. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Mobilia Consulting LLC. You can reach us any time at hello@mobiledesk.io or (843) 800-7377.
What we collect
Information you give us. When you fill in a form on this site — a contact request, an intro call request, an online signup, the checklist download or the horror story contest — we collect what that form asks for. Depending on the form, that is your name, work email, company, phone number, employee or device count, current carrier, and anything you type into a message field. The signup form also asks for your carrier account number, the billing name on the account and the authorised signer, because carriers require those before they will let us work on your behalf.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we record basic technical information when you visit: pages viewed, the site or ad that referred you, approximate location derived from your IP address, and your browser and device type. We store a one-way hash of your IP address with form submissions to catch abuse, never the address itself.
Cookies and tracking
We use three kinds of cookie and tracking technology:
- Essential. Needed for the site to work, including the session cookie that keeps our own staff signed in to the admin area.
- HubSpot. Our customer relationship system sets a cookie that lets us see which ad, post or email brought you here, and ties that to a form you later submit.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag. Tells us how many people who saw our LinkedIn posts or ads visited the site, and lets LinkedIn show our ads to similar audiences. LinkedIn receives your IP address and browser information.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them will not stop you using this site, though our forms may no longer remember where you came from. LinkedIn members can opt out of this kind of tracking in their own LinkedIn advertising settings.
How we use your information
- To reply to you, prepare for a call, and provide the service you asked for.
- To send you something you requested, such as The Company Phone Checklist.
- To set up your account with your carrier when you sign up.
- To understand which marketing works, so we spend less on the marketing that does not.
- To protect the site from spam and abuse.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. If you have asked us about the service, we may follow up about it — every email we send has an unsubscribe option, and you can also reply and ask us to stop.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers, who may process your information only to provide their service to us: HubSpot (customer records, forms and email), Neon (our database), Vercel (hosting), Clerk (staff sign-in), Hostinger (our email), and LinkedIn (advertising measurement). We may also share information with your mobile carrier when you have authorised us to act on your account, and with professional advisers or authorities where the law requires it.
These providers are based in, or store data in, the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep form submissions and customer records for as long as we have a relationship with you, and for up to seven years afterwards where we need to for tax, accounting or legal reasons. Marketing contacts who never become customers are reviewed and cleared out periodically. You can ask us to delete your information sooner, as below.
Your choices
Write to hello@mobiledesk.io and you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for marketing. We will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live — for example in California, the UK or the EU — you may have additional rights, and we will honour those requests on the same basis regardless of where you are.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS, staff access to customer records requires a separate login, and carrier account details are visible only to the people who need them to do the work. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send us sensitive information such as passwords by email.
Children
This is a service for businesses. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date below, and for significant changes we will say so on this page.
Carrier horror story contest rules
We ask visitors to send us their worst carrier experience. Each month we feature one story and the person who sent it receives a $100 gift card. These are the rules.
- Who can enter. Anyone aged 18 or over who is responsible for, or works with, company mobile phones. Employees of Mobilia Consulting LLC and their immediate families cannot win.
- No purchase necessary. Entering is free, and buying anything from us does not improve your chance of winning.
- How to enter. Submit your story through the form on this site. One entry per person per month. Your story must be true and your own.
- How we choose. We pick the story we judge most useful and most relatable to other IT and operations teams. That judgement is ours and is final.
- The prize. One $100 gift card per month, awarded to the person whose story is featured. No cash alternative. Any taxes are the winner’s responsibility.
- How we contact winners. By the email address on the entry, within 14 days of the end of the month. If we do not hear back within 14 days of that email, we may pick another entry.
- What we publish. By entering you allow us to publish your story, edited for length and clarity. We change names and identifying details, and we never publish your employer, your email address or your carrier account details. Tell us if you would rather not be published at all and we will still consider your entry.
- What we leave out. We do not publish anything defamatory, anything that identifies an individual carrier employee, or anything you are not free to share under your own employer’s rules.
- Sponsor. This contest is run by Mobilia Consulting LLC, Charleston, South Carolina. It is not sponsored or endorsed by LinkedIn or by any mobile carrier.
